A Great Start to Year 5
Can you believe it? Term 1 is already over, it went so fast!
Year 4 to Year 5 was a pretty big jump. The Year 4’s have their own centre, but the Year 5’s are upstairs in the main building so that was a change.
Year 5 is a big year because there are thirty nine new students. In Year 4 there are three classes with twenty four in each class, but there are four year 5 classes with twenty six in each class. There are nine new students in my class, five girls and four boys. They’re all so nice and I’ve made some great new friends!
Some of my highlights were inter-school sports or APS. We weren’t actually playing against other schools though, we’re start that next term, but we still went on long bus rides each week. Half of the term we did cycling, and the other half we did indoor rock climbing. The bus rides for rock climbing were 40 minutes each way, they were fun but very long and noisy. I had so much fun doing APS. I also really enjoyed maths this term. I learnt a lot of new strategies, like lattice for multiplication and KCF for division with fractions.
I was challenged with group work this term because I find it easier to work alone, we did a lot of group work some things we did were posters, market brainstorming and reading. I was also challenged with maths. Even though I learnt a lot I was still quite challenged because there was a lot to take in, in a short time.
What is one of your favourite thing you’ve done in Year 5?
